Animated gif goes viral - 'All my friends are dead' book

Avery Monsen and Jory John’s morbid but funny book, 'All My Friends Are Dead.' This gif shows the first 10 pages and was put together by Pretty Hear Attacks tumblr blog from the jpgs at http://www.nomorefriends.net/ - has turned out to be an enexpectedly good viral way of getting interest in a picture book as is (apparently) the most notable post on tumblr with over 26,000 notes and counting!

Dan McPharlin / Original, Modern Sci-Fi Artwork

This atmospheric work by Dan McPharlin captures the quality and finesse of yester-year sci-fi book and album artwork, while keeping a fresh style original to itself. I feel a familarity with the alien landscapes, but they also exude an eery sense of being in another world. (Not to forget how good the textures and palettes are as well).

IBM 'Smarter Planet' Brand + Original IBM Brand by Paul Rand

IBM 'Smarter Planet' Branding

Office SF http://www.visitoffice.com/main.html  collaborated with Ogilvy and Mather http://www.ogilvy.com/ for a Paul Rand inspired visual style for IBM's Smarter Planet Project http://www.ibm.com/smarterplanet/us/en/ - the results are bold, colourful and stunning taking inspiration from Paul Rand's original IBM graphic heritage (see below).

500 Worst Passwords Poster

So now I know not to use 'PASSWORD' as my password!

"I came across a list of the 500 worst passwords according to Mark Burnett (author of Perfect Password Selection and Protection), so I decided to draw them and then screenprint a limited edition print for you. You know, so you will never use/forget the worst 500 passwords." by Kate Bingaman-Burt. More of Kate's work here: http://www.katebingamanburt.com and here: http://www.theokbb.tumblr.com

Far out Worlds | Sci-Fi Book Covers

There's a lot of Sci-Fi book cover artwork out there - but you have wade through masses of bad fantasy/fan-boy art from many decades to get to the good stuff...when you find it however, it's pure gold! I've put a few Sci-Fi favs in this Flickr gallery - http://www.flickr.com/photos/kathykavan/galleries/72157624337182273/

(Note to self - sometimes I may lose sight of what is good artwork vs. artwork that's so cheesy and bad it actually comes full circle to being good again - I think there's a mix of it in this little collection but the Sci-Fi aesthetic is a bit of both I think) - anyway, I've had fun finding it - enjoy!
