A Retro pick and mix - on the Retrofuturs blog

You never know what you'll find on the Retrofuturs blog, it shows a real mixed bag from the last couple of centuries. Stéphane uses some of these as the basis for his design and illustration - here are some of my favourites from the blog... http://retrofuturs.posterous.com/

Robert McCall: Salute to a Legendary Space Artist

Get blown away by the incredible body of work by the late Robert McCall, made especially famous by his artwork for Kubricks '2001: A Space Odyssey'. Unusual Star Wars Posters

One day I was going to do it and today is that day, time to show a little love for the original Star Wars films through this collection of rarer Star Wars posters from around the world. I always vaguely remembered Galt toys as graphically cool from when I was a kid, and on searching today for them I wasn't disappointed. They seem to sum up an aspect of 70's design that is part of my subconscious, like the original Star Wars toy branding which still makes my heart jump when I see it (hmm, maybe that should be another blog article?) - they're muted 70's Galt palette, clear modernist typography, playful layout, type, illustration & photography all feel quirkily European and have a quality of Paul Rand about them (see http://www.paul-rand.com/index.php/site/gallery/ )
